Something Ugly out of the Internet

Reebok has ended the contract with a rapper named Rick Ross. Ross made a song describing rape, and social media was not happy about that. A number of people protested that Rick Ross be dropped from Reebok for such an inappropriate song. After a number of protests, Reebok was forced to end the contract with the rapper. This is ugly for the Internet. Reebok listened to it's social fans, and they dictated their actions based of off what the people thought. This is ugly for Rick Ross because people over social media ended his relationship with Reebok. People will speak their mind online and that can get somebody fired. That is something ugly on the Internet.

Something Bad on the Internet

Drugs can be bought on the Internet. An underground website called The Silk Road can only be accessed by using the Tor browser. As of 2013, 22% of users have bought drugs online. The use of The Silk Road is only becoming more a problem. The police can't track the buyers and sellers on this website since the only browser it's accessible through bounces your IP address so nobody can trace the users of the website. This is a bad thing about the Internet. This website allows the user to buy illegal drugs and many other illegal things from anywhere in the world. Sites like this need to be shut down because selling illegal things is wrong. The problem is that nobody knows where the site is hosted since its IP address is always being changed due to the Tor browser. Selling illegal things is something bad that has come out of the Internet.

Something Good out of the Internet

Comedy Central has revealed that they are going to provide a five-day comedy festival to all of its viewers. What's so special about this particular festival? All five days of the festival will only be accessible through Twitter. Anybody can see comedy routines that comedians post, and viewers can see jokes posted by searching the trend: #ComedyFest. I think this is a great marketing idea since so many people on Twitter. This is something good out of the Internet because people from anywhere around the world can watch these routines or read these jokes by simply searching a Twitter trend. It's amazing how far the Internet has come. Having people anywhere in the world able to watch a comedy festival is quite amazing.

My Cell Phones and Privacy Opinion

A legitimate use for a prepaid cell phones is for people who can't afford a continuous plan. A prepaid phone gives less fortunate people the access to a cell phone. Some people can't agree to a continuous plan because maybe they don't have a steady job with a steady income so they are unsure if they can pay a future bill. I think that prepaid phones should be controlled by the government though. Some people may think that it's an invasion of privacy for tracking people, but I don't think that should be a problem. If you aren't doing anything wrong then you shouldn't be worried where the government thinks you are. The government will only locate the only committing crime. 

My Location Tracking Opinion

I would support the law to put ID chips in children under the of 5. In case that child got abducted, or they got lost they could be easier to find. The parents have the right to know where their small child is because the child certainly cannot fend for themselves at this age. I do believe that senior citizens that are living in a nursing home should have an ID chip put in them. Especially those with Alzheimer's should have an ID chip because they could forget where they are. Those senior citizens need to be located as fast as possible so they don't harm themselves or others. The downside to having this ID chips would be that anybody could find anybody with the right resources. Hackers and pedophiles could find small children if they just hacked into the system with all the locations of everybody with an ID chip. I think the GPS Shoes is a good start to see how location tracking will work in everyday life.
